Argument essay - Media
News / Media has an influence on our life and some people think it can have a negative effect. Do you agree or disagree? Give your own opinion.
It is a very well known fact, that nowadays, our lives are hugely influenced by news and media in general. Some people believe that this influence usually has negative effects on us. I totally agree with this viewpoint.
[PARAGRAPH ABOUT FALSE INFORMATION]
In today's world there are so many sources of information that people do not know which one they can trust. For example, on the news a particular event is reported in different ways, often subjectively. Usually people are bombarded with false information. For instance, the situation of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014. People think that the news is full of propaganda.
[BAD INFORMATION => BAD FEELINGS]
Secondly, negative information from different kinds of media has a bad effect on our feelings and emotions. People are worried about the world, their country and finally about their own families. Additionally, American and European scientists discovered in last ten years that negative thoughts can cause depression. The worst thing is that depression can lead to suicide which is unfortunately not rare these days. It is really difficult to think positively if we hear and see only bad news on television, in newspapers, on the radio or on the Internet.
[ADVERTISEMENTS]
Besides that, in the media there is so much advertising that people are not able to decide what is best for them. In addition, we are used to being given advices on what to wear or what to eat and this has created a situation where people are not able to think independently.
To summarize, I strongly believe that today's media and news have a huge negative influence on our lives. We should try to minimize this effect by thinking positively and maybe then our lives will be happier.
