Essay - Pocket
money (ARGUMENT essay)
(essay not checked by professional teacher)
Some people think that giving their children a certain amount of money
every week will help them have fewer financial problems in the future. Do you
agree or disagree?
It
is very common in today's world that parents give their children pocket money
once a week or once a fortnight. Some people believe that this will save their
children from bigger problems in financial area. I partially agree with this
point of view.
Pocket
money given to kids can teach them a lot. Firstly, children are
automatically forced to count coins and by this action they are learning simple
mathematical operations like adding and subtraction. In addition, they
have to think more carefully about their needs and about what exactly they are
going to spend their money on which is usually a quite difficult decision even
for adults. This can even lead them to a decision about saving money and later
to thoughts about ways of keeping them, for example on bank account or in
socks.
Nevertheless, giving money to kids cannot help them in resolving
all their future financial problems. It seems to me that the most
important here is an ability to earn and save money at the same time. This is
why professional teachers and parents are necessary in a teaching process. For
example, children should be told about an importance of higher education or
financial knowledge in general because these things can lead to earning
money for living. Besides that, it is a common belief that different
skills are necessary to manage small amount and huge sums of money.
To sum up, I believe that pocket money is an important part of every kid's
life and it can be a source of some kind of knowledge and additional skills. Nevertheless,
money cannot be a help to all financial issues which adults are forced to face
to.
